Sacraments

Congratulations and welcome to the newest member of your family from the faith community at St. Stanislaus Parish!

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
~Mark 10:14-16

Baptism is a sacrament that brings us into new life in union with Christ and the Christian Community. Through Baptism, the community commits itself to the newly baptized [this is symbolized when the priest calls all present at the baptism to come forward and trace the sign of the cross on forehead of the person being baptized]. The newly baptized now shares in the gifts and duties of the community.

All parents wishing to have a child baptized at St. Stanislaus Parish must make an appointment to speak with a priest. The priest will talk with the parents about the celebration of the sacrament of Baptism. He will also speak with them about their faith and the importance of passing that faith on to their child. During this time the priest will be updating parish census information.

At St. Stanislaus Parish, Baptisms customarily take place on Sundays at 12:30 PM immediately following the 11:30 AM Mass. However, should you wish, the Baptism may take place within the celebration of the Mass. Special arrangements for scheduling a Baptism may also be made to accommodate individual circumstances.
