Bishops all across the United States and the world are joining Pope Francis as he launched the two-year “Share the Journey” campaign on September 27th. The Bishops of the United States are holding events and reaching out to support migrants and refugees in their own dioceses as the campaign aims to raise awareness about their plight worldwide.
Around the world more than 65 million people have been displaced from their homes by war and famine. Pope Francis wants us to feel this personally. He asks to actively encounter the migrants and refugees who are all around us. All too often, they seem invisible to us. We need to hear their stories, literally share their journeys, and see them as our brothers and sisters.
A week of prayer for migrants and refugees will take place from October 7th to the 14th. The Holy Father asks us to begin with prayer but to also look to take an active role in reaching out to ease the plight of those who no longer have a place to call home.
